When BAA and the PCCF merged in 2000, it was decided to create a new print newsletter for the new combined organization, retiring the PCCF’s Center View and BAA’s Action. The new name was EcoAdvocate, which had been one of the names in the running when trying to find a new organization name.
Since “EcoAdvocates” sounded more like a law firm to some board members, it was crossed off the list early in the naming process, long before the board of directors and its consultants decided on Acterra.
The EcoAdvocate began publishing in January 2001 when the organization was still called BAA+PCCF.
When Acterra changed the name of their newsletter sometime in the 2000s, Mark Bult re-registered the domains EcoAdvocate.org, .net, and .com, and will entertain purchase requests coming from the right cause.
