This project collected and reused materials which would otherwise have ended up in our rapidly filling landfills. The recycled materials are used for science, art and craft activities, and to educate people about the importance of reducing waste. Contra Costa County students, grades 6 through 12, learned about rainforests while making bromeliads from discarded toilet paper rolls, and learned about Native American respect for the Earth by making totem poles and drums.
